Intimate Wedding at The Hiatus Clearwater Beach
Apr 8 2026 | By: Nicholl Hyatt
Rachel planned her entire wedding in one week.
Most people need that long just to pick a font for their invitations.
But once she saw The Hiatus Clearwater Beach, the rest of the decisions came together quickly. The hotel sits just above the shoreline with sweeping views of the Gulf of Mexico, and its event space opens directly onto a terrace overlooking Clearwater Beach. It’s the kind of setting where the water becomes part of the ceremony without anyone ever needing to step onto the sand.
A Clearwater Beach Ceremony at The Hiatus
Guests gathered inside the lounge before the ceremony began, then stepped outside onto the terrace overlooking the Gulf.
Rachel made her entrance from inside the hotel, walking beside her brother while holding her phone so her father could participate through FaceTime. It was a small adjustment that allowed him to share the moment even though he couldn’t attend in person.
At the front of the terrace, a horseshoe-shaped floral arch framed the ceremony while the blue horizon stretched across the background.
The wedding party’s colors fit the setting beautifully. The boys wore sapphire blue suits that echoed the tones of the Gulf, while the girls wore soft pink dresses that added a lighter contrast.
Rachel’s braided updo was gathered into a low bun that held perfectly in the ocean breeze.
A Ceremony That Included Their Children
Rachel and Patrick shared a first look earlier in the hotel before the ceremony began. When Patrick turned around and saw her, his reaction made it clear just how much the moment meant to him.
And the emotions carried through the entire day.
From the beginning of the planning process, Rachel made it clear that including their children was one of the most important parts of the celebration. This was a second marriage for both Rachel and Patrick, and bringing their families together was central to the ceremony.
The kids stood with them as the wedding party, with Patrick’s children on his side and Rachel’s on hers. At one point during the ceremony, Rachel and Patrick turned toward the kids and read vows written specifically for them. It was one of the most heartfelt moments of the day and ended with the entire group pulling together for a hug that had everyone smiling.
Portraits Around The Hiatus Clearwater Beach
Because everything took place at The Hiatus, we were able to photograph in several areas of the property without ever leaving the venue.
Rachel and Patrick shared their first look in the hotel room before the ceremony, and afterward we moved to the pool deck for bride and groom portraits. With the palms, the colorful mural, and the Gulf just beyond the railing, the space offered a completely different backdrop from the ceremony location.
After the ceremony, we returned to the terrace for a few quiet husband and wife portraits overlooking Clearwater Beach before everyone gathered back inside to celebrate.
A Day Focused on Family
Rachel and Patrick’s wedding came together quickly, but the priorities were clear from the start.
The day wasn’t just about the ceremony itself. It was about bringing their families together and making sure their children were part of the experience from beginning to end.
By the end of the day, it was clear they had created exactly the kind of celebration they wanted.
