A Beach Wedding in Madeira Beach, Florida
Apr 20 2026 | By: Nicholl Hyatt
Beach weddings have their own kind of rhythm. The atmosphere is relaxed, guests wander toward the ceremony site with the Gulf in view, and the sound of the waves becomes part of the day before the ceremony even begins.
The morning began at Barefoot Beach Club where Cayley and her bridesmaids got ready in a suite overlooking the water. One of the things I loved most about the space was the wall of sliding glass doors that opened directly toward the Gulf. When the doors were open, it almost felt like the ocean became part of the room, which made a beautiful backdrop while everyone was getting ready.
As Cayley finished getting into her dress, her mom helped with the final details. Those quieter moments before the ceremony often end up being some of the most meaningful parts of the day.
A Balcony First Look
Cayley and Chris chose to share a first look on the balcony outside the suite before the ceremony.
First looks are honestly one of my favorite parts of a wedding day. They give couples a chance to slow down and be together before everything begins. Once the ceremony starts the day moves quickly, so having that quiet moment together can make a big difference.
There’s also something special about the emotions during a first look. When it’s just the two of them, couples tend to be more relaxed and present in the moment than they sometimes can be during the ceremony with 100 people watching.
After seeing each other for the first time, Cayley and Chris stepped inside to read their vows privately before the ceremony.
Portraits Before the Ceremony
Before the ceremony began, we stepped outside Barefoot Beach Club for family portraits.
The beach club sits right along the shoreline, so the Gulf created a natural backdrop for the photos. When you’re photographing right next to the water, you really don’t need much else for a setting.
Cayley had done a great job organizing her family groupings ahead of time, which helped us move through the portraits quickly. With the warm afternoon temperatures… I’m sure it's something her family appreciated!
A Beach Ceremony Along the Gulf
The ceremony took place just a short walk from the venue along the sand in Madeira Beach.
Guests made their way toward the ceremony site, creating a long aisle that stretched toward the water. Because the walk was longer than a typical aisle, it gave everyone a little extra time to take in the moment as Cayley walked toward the ceremony with her dad.
As she made her way down the aisle, Cayley’s bridesmaid Lauren played the harp. Seeing a harp set up on the beach with the Gulf stretching out behind it was such a unique detail and added a beautiful atmosphere to the ceremony.
The ceremony space itself was framed by a hexagon arch decorated with pampas grass and blue and rust florals designed by Studio 131. Beneath the arch, Cayley and Chris included a sand ceremony, blending natural sand with bright blue sand as a symbol of their lives coming together.
Cayley and Chris chose to have an unplugged ceremony so guests could stay present in the moment rather than watching through their phones. The guests honored that beautifully.
The tourists walking along the beach… not so much. A few curious onlookers paused nearby and snapped photos from a distance, which tends to happen when you get married somewhere as beautiful as Madeira Beach.
A Bubble Entrance and Reception at The West Events
After the ceremony, guests made their way to The West Events for cocktail hour.
Cayley and Chris kicked things off with a bubble entrance outside, which was so fun! It set a great tone for the rest of the evening.
When it was time for the reception introductions, the bridal party entered first with a lot of energy, forming an aisle and cheering as Cayley and Chris made their way into the room. From there, they went straight into their first dance.
Before dinner began, Cayley’s grandmother shared a blessing for the meal, giving the room a quiet moment before the celebration continued.
Sunset Portraits on Madeira Beach
During dinner we snuck away for about fifteen minutes to capture sunset portraits along the beach, which was totally worth it!
The evening light along the Gulf had softened beautifully, and Cayley’s veil caught the breeze as they walked together near the water. Those little moments created some of the most beautiful images of the day.
Later they told me those sunset photos ended up being some of their favorites from the entire wedding.
A Night of Celebration
Once we returned to the reception, the rest of the evening was filled with dancing, laughter, and celebrating with family and friends.
One of my favorite moments later in the night was seeing Cayley’s grandmother out on the dance floor enjoying every minute of the celebration.
With the Gulf just steps away and everyone gathered together, it felt like the perfect way to end the day.
